The end of Intel era
It looks like for both Bekki's, the Intel adventure is ending sooner than anticipated. I got an offer from US Airways and they wanted me to start immediately. I couldn't say no, as I have always wanted to get into airline business and a similar opportunity may not come again. Jen, on the other hand, is going back to school full time to finish her degree requirements and she will be looking for a different job, afterwards. This solution seemed to be the one that would make us the happiest. BTW, as a US Airways employee, I get to travel domestically free through stand-by and at a discounted rate internationally. Jen also gets the same privileges. So, be ready, we might come and visit you anytime we find an empty flight :)

Yep --
I'm back to campus to give the faculty job search one more go. That's the job I really want, so I figure it'd be a shame not to give it one more try (I'm really hoping for something to work out with ASU East, but there are, of course, other possibilities as well. :>). Anyway, even if I don't get a faculty job this year, I'm not any worse off at this time next year -- just probably won't be able to go back to Intel (which is OK... :>) Plus, with Baris having his US Airways job, he'll help to pay the bills while I'm still a grad student... :P

Way to go, Jen! So you'll be at INFORMS, hopefully? I'll be there, and at Wintersim too!
Baris - congratulations! Minneapolis is just one just flight and 3 hours away. :) There will be no excuses if you and Jen don''t come
