Back from Turkey

After a 3-week vacation in Turkey, Jen and I are back in Phoenix. I wanted to check the blog and felt like posting a short message on our trip. I think we chose a really nice time to evacuate the Phoenix area as we avoided the first three digit temperatures of the year. The whole time we were in Turkey, the highest temperature was below 80, I guess. We spent most of the time at my parents' house in a beach town near Izmir. While we were in Turkey, we also took a short trip to a city called Denizli (three and a half hours away from Izmir) for some sight seeing. While we were there, something really unexpected happened and it started snowing while the temperature was around high 70's (see the picture).

Anyway, of course I was just kidding. The white color in this picture is not due to snow, but as a result of some spring water containing some minerals (like Calcium) flowing through and hitting the rocks of a hill. I thought you might find this very interesting. If you do, then you can check out http://www.pamukkale.gov.tr/EN/ to find out more about this place (Pamukkale = Cotton Castle).

Beside our latest trip to Turkey, there is not much change in life, except for the school/job situation. Both Jen and I are starting at Intel as interns. As you know, Jen defended in march, and we are both planning to graduate in December. After that, we are hoping to get full time permanent positions in the groups we'll be working for as interns. So, it looks like we'll be in Phoenix even after our graduation. Of course, unless we don't like our jobs or our bosses don't like us and hire us after the internship. That's all from the Bekki's for the time being. I hope you all have a great summer.
